All of Japan's cities struck Steven's rural American mind as being very large, very busy, and very much a delightful mix of technology and heritage. He always sensed that everything and everyone knew its place, that nothing rarely intruded upon others in a negative or unpleasant manner. It amazed Steven how so much energy AND peacefulness could be crammed into such tight quarters. And, yet, everything ran like clockwork. The photos that follow were Steven's attempt to capture a fraction of the exciting dichotemy that is the typical Japanese city.
