The tenth poster in the “American Indian Heritage Month Poster”. “The Peoples Land of New Mexico” These people, Among the centuries. Living within the land, beautiful and harsh. Nothing forgotten all things revered. From the smallest bird to the spirits of the mountain. Beauty surrounds, they continue to pray, dance, sing. Worship the way it will always be, holding our precious world in the balance. Is this why the sun always comes up or the rains come along with spring, winter, fall, and summer? Only the Mother knows as the Father forever watches with warmth. People of all time, land of enchantment. The peoples land of New Mexico. By: Nokoni
Each Tribe in New Mexico has its own way of giving thanks and worship. With each dance, song and tradition, from the Apaches, Pueblos, and Navajo (Dine´). Each Tribe understands the importance of each being, that includes all things and their relationship to all things. This includes all spiritual matters as well, to keep in balance with Mother Earth. The artist tried to represent each tribal group as well as animals, lands, and the spirit world of New Mexico’s peoples. American Indian Heritage Month is sponsored by the USDA, Soil Conservation Service, in association with the Ohio Valley RC&D Council and the USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service. |
